Dear Paramore, I am a filmmaker and have an idea: ‘The Paramore Experience’

THIS IS

1. Relevance and influence

2. The band’s story, so far

• They started making music when they were 12 years old, pushed by their passion for music and their friendship.

• Taylor York (Guitar) and Zac Farro (Drums) are part of the band since the very beginning.

• Paramore started as part of a scene (emo, pop-punk and rock) that was predominantly male, which made the band work even harder to be taken seriously (especially Hayley). They now attend to the most diverse musical spaces, and are one of the favorite bands from LGBTQ+ and Black Communities.

• Throughout their entire career, they’ve been known for their live performances full of energy, stage presence, raw talent, and connection to the fans.

• Hayley has always made sure to point out in every show that Paramore is a band, and headbangs constantly—she says it is essential to rock music.

One of the best performances in the band’s history, so far.

• They’ve become a reference for artists all over the world—like Taylor Swift, Billie Eillish, SZA, and more—who see in the band the power of rock and reinventing themselves by staying true to their craft after more than 20 years.

• On the other hand, legacy artists like Foo Fighters and David Byrne, recognize Paramore as referents for modern rock music.

• Paramore has also been known for Hayley’s hair and her sense of style, which catapulted a new generation of women to be more risky by incorporating punk elements, whilst bringing hair-dye to the masses.

• Taylor York and Zac Farro are recognized as one of the best instrumentalists in rock music in the past two decades, producing different records, and being an inspiration for aspiring guitarists and drummers alike. Both are mostly responsible for the rhythmic expansion of Paramore’s catalogue and their constant evolution, making Paramore one of the very few (if not the only) bands that after more than two decades and coming from the Warped Tour era, evolved and are still relevant.

• Paramore started when online communities like MySpace or Livejournal were thriving, and since they were teenagers, they found in the online world a place to connect with fans and speak about what was important to them. Now, years later into their adulthood, they mostly thrive on respecting their private lives and not engaging in toxic online discourses. They don’t like the celebrity status, they prefer to be known as musicians and humans.

• Finally, Paramore is a band.
