THIS IS
INDEPENDENT
2024
Paramore announced they’re an independent band from now on, and released the music video for ‘Thick Skull’, which depicts the band’s history and the termination of their previous contract.
As for Paramore, the band, not the metaphor: We have crashed the van. We're finding new ways. We have new maps. We are starting from point zero. And this time, we're reading the fine print.
—Hayley
GRAMMYS
Best Rock Album award for their ‘This Is Why’, making them the first female-fronted band ever to win this award; and Best Alternative Performance award for their song ‘This Is Why’.
‘BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE’ COVER
As part of a tribute album by A24 Music, Paramore covered this Talking Heads song.
THIS IS WHY
2023
Paramore released their first album after six years since After Laughter. Labeled as a rock, post-punk, and new-wave inspired album, it marked their sixth album in their now 20-year career, earning them two Grammy awards, wide acclaim, and their biggest tour so far. It solidified them as one of the most defining rock acts of the past two decades, inspiring multiple old and new artists.
The band also released a remixes album titled ‘Re: This Is Why’ which
includes collaborations from Jack Antonoff, Julien Barker, Remi Wolf,
and more.
This era also represented the first time Paramore made two consecutive albums
with the same band members.
AFTER LAUGHTER
2017
Paramore’s 5th album marked a complete departure from their previous sounds by mixing 80s synth-pop and rock elements.
It is perceived as a ‘happy instruments, sad lyrics’ album, with one of the slogans being cry hard, dance harder.
The album brought new audiences, including older people and even more people from black and LGBTQ+ communities.
Zac Farro rejoined the band for this album, after leaving in 2010.
PARAMORE
2013
A revolutionary album for the band and music in general, the self-titled record marks Paramore’s first album as a trio and catapulted them as a genre-neutral band since it mixed pop, rock, alternative, and increased rhythmic sounds than in previous albums.
It gave Paramore their first Grammy Award for ‘Ain’t It Fun’ as Best Rock Song and their first top-ten song in Billboard’s Hot 100.
The band also toured the world and headlined festivals like Reading & Leeds.
It is their most successful album to date, in terms of numbers.
BRAND NEW EYES
2009
This was Paramore’s first and only album as an official five members band. Still regarded by many as their best and favorite album, it’s a cohesive and heavy sounding record that examines the internal turmoil they were going through.
It also earned them their first Grammy nomination with their song ‘The Only Exception’ which, until this day, is still one of their biggest hits.
‘Decode’—from the Twilight saga and one of their biggest hits—is seen as part of this album’s era. In the 2020s decade, the album closer ‘All I Wanted’ would become their biggest non-single thus far, and a fan favorite.
RIOT!
2007
The band’s sophomore album catapulted them to the mainstream and is regarded as one of the best pop-punk albums in history.
Paramore’s most recognizable song, ‘Misery Business’, was an instant success and although the band doesn’t align with the content of the song anymore, its cultural relevance is undeniable.
This was also the album that brought Hayley’s style to a whole new level, with risky, colorful, and out of the box looks that would inspire women all over the world, and bringing neon hair dye to the masses.
ALL WE KNOW
IS FALLING
2005
On their debut album, Paramore mixed emo influences with punk and pop elements. It deals with teen heartbreak, faith, and friendship as the main topics.
The album has been recognized as a scene classic though it doesn’t stand as one of Paramore’s best albums.
It also contains Paramore’s first ever song, ‘Conspiracy’, which featured Taylor York as a writer at age 12 and Hayley at age 13.
